Nowadays, European and American countries need to approach the managment of natural and cultural landscapes of the urban and periurban areas at an interregional level and in a sustainable manner.
In an urban enviroment dense and with contrast, approaching the landscape concept contributes to avoid the loss of its specifity and identity besides to contribute management of those areas the best possible way.
In an urban and periurban area where demographic and climatic aspects are in constantly changing, with rising economic barriers and enviromental challenges, the exchanges of "Tourism, Territory and Landscape", topic of the conference, good practices and expertise will help the local and regional authorities to be more efficient in protecting, maintaining and improving our natural and cultural landscapes in a sustainable and enduring manner over the time.
This meeting aims to be the central node for those involved in the management of the natural and cultural landscapes of the urban and periurban area of Europe and America, either actively or passively, to interchange tools, knowledge transfer and good practices as well as politic tools that contribute to improve the management and the conception of tourism, territory and landscape in a sustainable way and lasting in time.
In this sense, the Ministry for the Enviroment and of the Canary Government, The Spanish Association of Town Planners (A.E.T.U) and the insular city council of Tenerife organize the XIV IBEROAMERICAN TOWN PLANNING CONGRESS In Santa Cruz de Tenerife on days 13th, 14th and October 15th, 2010.
